A few weeks ago, Bloomington’s beer emporium and music venue, The Bishop, hosted its 2nd round of The Karaoke Machine: Live Band Karaoke. This event has been a huge success making everyone who once scoffed at traditional karaoke reexamine their entire moral code. The Karaoke Machine, consisting of local music superstars, has an ever increasing repertoire of top 40 pop hits like Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, vintage indie rock like Pavement’s Cut Your Hair, classic rock greats like Tom Petty’s American Girl, and songs everyone can’t help but know the words to like Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U. I brought the house down with a rousing rendition of teen idol Miley Cyrus’ hit single Party in the USA complete with the lyrically directed hip moving and arm waiving. Stay tuned for further tails of karaoke greatness. Hopefully The Karaoke Machine takes my advice and adds Chris Isaaks’ song Wicked Games to their repertoire.
